Mental Health afflicts nearly every family in America equally, rich or poor, young or old. Think about it? Either you or a family member you know by relation or friendship is affected. Your neighbor down the street who is paranoid and is afraid to leave their home. Your parent who suffers from dementia or Alzheimers. Your friend from church or work who is dealing with a child suffering from bi-polar disease or depression or worse yet the returning soldiers from Afghanistan or Iraq with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The list could continue, but suffice to say, we desperately need to find a way to fix this.We need a remedy. We need support. People need to discuss the issue openly and not fear it.
Warbirds Over The Rockies, a non-profit organization, will again partner with Mental Health of America/ Colorado for 2015.
The event is a salute to Veterans, many of whom are affected by Mental Health issues. MHAC is a non-profit organization that is the catalyst and voice for the Colorado Mental Health movement. Through education advocacy, outreach and prevention MHAC provides resources to Coloradans effected by the entire spectrum of mental health issues. According to the National Institutes of Health, service members are more likely to suffer from anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, depression and substance abuse issues than civilians.
